Feral Cat Program

Feral Cat Program

El Paso has a program funded by donations and grants that allows people to trap feral cats, bring them into vet clinics and have them spayed and nutered for free.  The stipulations of this program are that each clinic can only do 5 each month, the cats must be presented in a live trap and be truely feral, we must notch the right ear and give them a rabies vaccine, and they must be released back out to the wild.

MVC-PNH Feral Cat Program

Because we are presented with MANY more than 5 cats per week, we ask for donations as well.  When we have reached our five cat limit, we ask that the people bringing in the cats donate the cost of the materials and medications needed to fix these cats.  Many people are not able to donate this money for more than one cat, however many are brought in.  We therefore accept donations to cover the costs of these additional animals.  If you would like to donate, you may make a payment by check, cash, or credit card and request that the funds be placed in the feral cat program account.  We can provide you with a receipt for tax purposes.

You Too Can Participate!!

You can also participate in this wonderful program.  You can borrow a live trap from Animal Control (contact them for details: 842-1000), or purchase a trap from local pet stores.  Place the trap in an area of high feral cat population in the evening of Sunday thru Thursday and place a cat of cat food or tuna in it.  Leave it overnight and bring in the cats in the morning.

Please take action!  Either donate to the city program or to our local clinic program, or trap cats yourself and help control the overpopulation problem!
