Mesa Veterinary Clinic and Paws N’ Hooves Mobile Veterinary Clinic are comprised of two small animal clinics- a fixed base clinic in West El Paso and two mobile veterinary clinics that rotate to different parts of the city- in addition to our mobile large animal services. It is our dedicated mission to provide our pets with the quality medical care that they deserve. In El Paso there are currently about 18,000 dogs and cats that are euthanized each year as a consequence of our community’s pet overpopulation problem. It is our responsibility to educate our clients and do our part to minimize this number. El Paso is a place where you can truly make a difference. We try to offer a little of everything so that our clients can get all the care they need for all of their pets in one place.

As a volunteer you will assist our receptionists in answering phones and managing client check-in and check-out from our clinic. You will also get the opportunity to assist our veterinary technicians with the care of small, large, farm, and exotic patients. Including but not limited to cleaning kennels, prepping surgery equipment, and restraining pets. Opportunities for more hands on experience will be available to those that thrive in this position. During your volunteer time with our clinics you will gain invaluable experience in both a traditional and mobile practice getting to know the ins and outs of working at a veterinary practice.

Paws N’ Hooves Mobile Veterinary Services is where we perform low-cost services throughout El Paso. Our mobile clinic is a completely transformed RV that includes exam rooms, surgery room, kennels, digital radiographs, and a laboratory. With the limited space on the mobile you will work closely with 2-3 technicians Tuesdays-Saturdays at a different location each day. A large support staff is always available to you at Mesa Veterinary Clinic.

Mesa Veterinary Clinic is our traditional stand-alone practice where we perform full hospitalization, some orthopedic surgeries, and see small pocket pets to horses and cattle! At this clinic, we have a full reception and technician staff, along with a management team. There are two large exam rooms for patients, a laboratory, an x-ray room, surgery room, boarding kennels, isolation kennels, and post-op kennels. Mesa Veterinary Clinic will soon be moving to a brand new building and transitioning to a 24-hour clinic. This location will allow for us to offer non-traditional working shifts for those who are interested. It will be 1 of only 2 locations available overnight in El Paso so we expect for it to be exciting and will require someone who is quick on their feet.

Receptionist at Mesa Veterinary Clinic are the rock stars of our clinic. They are first point of contact for our clients whether it is when they walk in the door, or call us on the phone. They also provide support services for our large staff of technicians, veterinarians, and management team. In order to be successful at our practice the right person must be friendly, dependable, able to multi-task and have excellent communication skills (written and verbal).

  • Bilingual preferred (English/ Spanish)
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule (including Saturdays)

If you are friendly, courteous, passionate, motivated, and EXCITED about what you do and how you can help your clients and their pets then you are a perfect fit for our team! We are seeking experienced, self-motivated candidates who will administer vaccinations and medication, draw blood, run diagnostics and assist the veterinarian with any and all aspects of the job. Surgical assistance skills including intubation, IV catheter placement and monitoring anesthesia as needed. We boast great staff, progressive medicine and medical equipment, a variety and flair that no other clinic can offer, and wonderful weather year round. We are well known and well loved!

Our clinic is open Monday- Saturday with on-call and after hours treatment shifts required for technicians.

As a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine Extern you will see small, large, farm, and exotic patients. You will also get a chance to work in a traditional practice, mobile practice, and preform home visits. During your time as an extern, you will get to shadow three different veterinarians with different levels of experience. You will also get the opportunity for professional development and hands experience in areas such as surgery, diagnostics, disease treatment, and client education. Gaining this much experience from one practice is hard to come by.

Our Doctor of Veterinary Medicine Externs may work in our mobile practice, Paws N’ Hooves Mobile Veterinary Services, where we perform low-cost services throughout El Paso. Our mobile clinic is a completely transformed RV that includes exam rooms, surgery room, kennels, digital radiographs, and a laboratory. With the limited space on the mobile you will work closely with 2-3 technicians Tuesdays-Saturdays at a different location each day. With a smaller second mobile we are able to participate in spay and neuter clinics in our outlying communities. These clinics include various locations for Coalition for Pets and People and SNAP. Depending on our availability we are able to participate in 4-10 clinics per month.

For our more traditional setting, our mixed animal veterinarians may work in our main clinic, Mesa Veterinary Clinic. Here we perform full hospitalization, some orthopedic surgeries, and see small pocket pets to horses and cattle! At this clinic, we have a full reception and technician staff, along with a management team. There are two large exam rooms for patients, a laboratory, an x-ray room, surgery room, boarding kennels, isolation kennels, and post-op kennels.
